A MESSAGE TO ALL WM CIU AND BRITISH LEGION MEMBERS & FRIENDS

Jackie Trent

Hi Everyone!  This is Jackie Trent – or Yvonne Burgess of Chesterton, Newcastle-Under-Lyme, Staffordshire if you like!

I’m finally writing a book of my life, and it all started with winning the ‘Caroll Levis and His Discoveries’  Show at the Theatre Royal, Hanley, in 1951, then working the CIU Clubs; starting with Longport Social Club.  I’m still proud that the Ent.  Secs around Stoke kept me in full employment at weekends between 1951/5, before I hit the road to London and the World.  I’m still chuffed that Longport’s Ent.  Sec announced me as ‘The Vera Lynn of the Potteries’.  But only on my repeat booking – he was dubious first time round!

    -   Anyone out there remember me working in their Club?
    -   Maybe have photo’s, or reminiscences of me to share in the book?

Please, if you do, feel free to write to me by e-mail on cg15144@aol.com
Or leave a message on my Guestbook @ www.jackietrent.com
For anyone not on e-mail, Ruth Cherrington, your Historian, would enjoy hearing from anyone with info about me for her own research.

Maybe you saw me perform at Trentham Gardens, Queens Hall, Burslem, Kings Hall, Stoke   and other venues with The Potteries Big Bands: Ken Griffiths, Reg Bassett (he owned a private bus company) and Norman Jones?

Luv

Jackie Trent
